The first Morningside Mile Race in 2010 was a huge success so it’s back for a 2nd year. The 2011 Morningside Mile Race & Block Party will take place Sunday, October 16th from Noon – 3pm. At high noon, the 1 mile run/walk will start in Virginia Highland at the corner of Lanier Boulevard and Virginia Avenue. The course ends at Doc Chey’s (1424 N Highland Avenue) in Morningside. Registration is $25 and will close at 1000 runners or October 10th, whichever comes first. Each runner will receive a T-shirt and water bottle. Cash, gift cards and a Sweetwater 420 prize package will be awarded to top runners.
Thrown by the Morningside Village businesses, the Morningside Block Party will be held at the race’s finish line from Noon – 3pm. There will be raffles, live music, artist market, free beer, free frozen yogurt, inflatables, a dunk tank and more.
