This week marks the first ever Atlanta Gallery Week! 17 galleries all across town have banded together to provide exhibitions, temporary installations and performances on each evening of this week-long event. From October 1st through October 6th some of the most established galleries and some just emerging galleries will participate.
All galleries and events for Atlanta Gallery Week are free and everyone is welcome. Most gallery owners love to talk about their passion for an artist’s work, so don’t be shy about asking questions.
Each night will focus on a different neighborhood and the galleries present in that part of town, encouraging art aficionados and welcoming new visitors to experience all that Atlanta’s art scene has to offer. Participating neighborhoods include Buckhead, Castleberry, Inman Park, Westside, Highlands and Ponce. Visit the website for a complete schedule of events, list of participating galleries, and even a map to help plan your evening.
The headliner so to say of the Atlanta Gallery Week is FLUX Night on Saturday October 5th . This will be the 4th annual “experimental art party” hosted by Flux Projects. This evening will feature 20 projects and displays spread throughout the Castleberry Hill Arts District for one night only before being completely erased as if it never existed.
The goal of Atlanta Gallery Week is to promote Atlanta’s modern and contemporary galleries, to old and new audiences alike, while also jump-starting, in earnest, wide-spread collecting of contemporary art here in Atlanta.
