Dunwoody is located just outside of the Perimeter, in Atlanta’s North DeKalb County primarily in zip code 30338. Once a “community”, Dunwoody officially became a city on December 1, 2008.  Many of the homes in Dunwoody were built in the 70’s and 80’s and are traditional two story brick homes, on generous half acre lots.

Swim/tennis neighborhoods are popular and provide a great way to get to know your neighbors.  There are also new construction luxury homes, as well as condos and townhomes in a variety of price ranges.

Shopping and Dining in Dunwoody

Williamsburg-style architecture originated with the construction of the Dunwoody Village shopping center in the 1970s and has been adopted as the architecture standard for businesses in the area. Dunwoody Village is considered by most to be the heart of the city and is the location of the Dunwoody Farmhouse. It is also home to a variety of businesses including Fresh Market, David’s FlowersDunwoody Prep and one of my personal favorites, Perfect Health Pilates! Across the street, dine at The Dunwoody Tavern and see top musical talent at Mudcatz Bayou Bar & Grill….and don’t forget Mellow Mushroom! New to Dunwoody, Village Burgers in the old Bruster’s location.

Can you say “shopping”?  Oh yes, there is shopping galore!  Perimeter Mall is home to over 200 stores with four anchor stores: Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom and Dilliard’s.  When you’ve worked up an appetite, dine at Goldfish, Maggiano’s Little Italy, The Cheesecake Factory, Hudson Grill, Season’s 52, or my favorite place for cedar-plank salmon, Wildfire Grill! Two other shopping areas are close by.  Perimeter Place, a  mixed-use development built by Sembler, is home to Super Target, Office Max, Verizon, just to name a few and loads of restaurants including Panera Bread, Tin Drum, Cheese Burger in Paradise, Taco Mac, Shane’s Rib Shack and many more!
