Georgia Bulldogs Countdown to Kickoff Celebration

Are you patiently awaiting the start of  the college football season? Are you a die hard University of Georgia fan? If so, don’t wait until September, head to Athens on July 17th to see your favorite Dawgs, past and present. The Countdown to Kickoff Fan Festival will be a day for fans of all ages  to get in the Georgia Bulldogs spirit.  See players run drills,  see Hairy Dawg get autographs, and cheer with the Bulldog cheerleaders. Looking for some good family fun? You’ll find it at Centennial Olympic Park the 4th Saturday of the month from May through September, noon – 4pm. Each Saturday will be filled with interactive, educational and entertaining activities based on a theme for that month.

Movie Nights at East Cobb Park

Select upcoming Friday nights at East Cobb Park will be filled with music, dancing and movies. Admission to the event is free, and Friends for the East Cobb Park will be selling concessions including popcorn, candy and drinks. Activities begin at 6pm and movies will be shown at dusk.

Georgia Aquarium’s Renovated Cold Water Quest

If you’ve been to the Georgia Aquarium in the last six months, you may have missed seeing the adorable penguins and extremely vocal sea otters in Cold Water Quest. After months of being under construction, Cold Water Quest gallery has fully reopened!! It is now bigger and better than ever! Cow Moo-ving In Celebration

June 19th, 2010 | 10am – 4pm

A new milking cow interactive exhibit is coming to Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. To celebrate the newest addition to the farm area, the moo-seum will be having a full day of fun festivities.

  • 10am – 2pm – See live milking cow and calf at Centennial Olympic Park.
  • Noon – 2:30pm – Children can ask Georgia dairy farmers some of their intriguing questions about cows.
  • 2pm – Real butter making by doing the “Making Butter Boogie”.
  • 4pm – Down on the Farm Story Time.

It’s all about the geckos!!

A new traveling exhibition has recently arrived at Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Geckos – Tails to Toepads allows visitors to experience life as a gecko! The habitats will include plants, waterfalls, and rock ledges displaying over 18 species of live geckos from all over the world.

Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure will be playing on the IMAX screen all summer long. Watching the film will be a great way add to the gecko experience.

It’s official…Sandy Springs Farmers Market is OPEN!!

Thanks to the community support, Sandy Springs now has a farmers market. Come to the parking lot of the old Target at the corner of Sandy Springs Circle and Johnson Ferry Road every Saturday morning from 8:30am – 12:30pm. The farmers market will run from April through December. Check out the Sandy Springs Farmers Market website to see what’s in season, read about the latest news and view a list of vendors.
