It’s official! Brookhaven is now a city! So what’s next for Atlanta’s newest City?
On July 31st, voters approved the incorporation of Brookhaven. It will be DeKalb County’s largest city with approximately 49,000 residents and twelve square miles. There is still much work to be done before Brookhaven officially opens its doors for business on December 17th.
The Governor, Nathan Deal, will appoint a Governor’s Commission on Brookhaven. The commission will have five members with at least one from each of the four city council districts. Brookhaven’s first election will be held Tuesday, November 6th. Voters will elect a manor and four city council members.
