The Dunwoody Art Festival is on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, 2013. The event is held along Chamblee Dunwoody Road across from the Dunwoody Village shopping center. The festival hours on Saturday are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday’s hours are from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
A Mother’s Day Weekend favorite, the Dunwoody Art Festival is celebrating it’s fourth year. The free event will be filled with tons of arts and crafts at the whimsical artist market. A wide variety of work will be on display and for sale, including pieces made from: clay, fiber, glass, metal, and wood. There will also be fine artwork such as paintings, folk art, and photography. Several jewelry artists will also be selling their unique pieces, and the different styles available are sure to make a great gift for Mom on Mother’s Day.
At the festival, there will also be live music and entertainment. Throughout the day, various singers and musicians will be performing and entertaining the crowds. The Kidz Zone is also a fun part of the event, and kids will love all of the activities in the play area. There will be great rides, sand art, imaginative crafts, and fun games to keep the kids busy. A local favorite, the Purple Hippo Art Studio, will have helpers at the Kidz Zone to teach art and assist with the fun crafts. Kids can also enjoy jumping on the inflatables and getting their face painted. The yummy food court will feature great eats from neighborhood restaurants, in addition to festival favorites like funnel cakes.
Another highlight of the event is the “Chairs for Charity” exhibit. Children from local Dunwoody and other DeKalb County schools have decorated and painted several chairs that will be on display and auctioned off at the festival. The highest bidder will win the decorative chair of their choice, and the proceeds from the auction go towards art programs at the participating schools. The auction closes at 3:00 pm on Sunday, and winners will be able to take home their chair at that time.
