The 29th annual Kids II Strong Legs Run is on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The event takes place at Turner Field located at 755 Hank Aaron Dr SW in downtown Atlanta. The 10k begins at 8:00 am and the other races will follow.
This Atlanta tradition is a race that raises funds for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In it’s 29th year, the races include something for everyone! There’s a 10k, a 5k, a 2k Fun Run, a Mascot Trot, and a Stroller Roll. The family-friendly event will have competitors of all levels and abilities, and there will be a post-race festival filled with lots of fun.
The 10k begins at 8:00 am, and the registration fee is $25 for the timed race. The 5k begins at 9:15 am, and runners have the option to pay $25 for a timed race, or $20 for an un-timed race. The timed 10k and 5k races are AJC Peachtree Road Race Qualifiers for the 2014 event. At 10 am the Mascot Trot will begin, and at 10:15 am the 2K Fun Run and Stroller Roll races will begin. Registration for adults to run the 2k or the Stroller Roll is $20, and those races will cost $15 for kids ages 12 and under. Only children who are ages 10 and under can participate in the Mascot Trot, and registration fees for that race are $12 per child. Participants can register in advance online or at several of the participating Big Peach Running Company stores. Race-day registration will also be available at a higher cost.
After the race, there will be a festival with local companies such as: Kids II, B98.5, Southeast Produce Council, ARAMARK, and The Coca-Cola Company. There will be entertainment, a race awards ceremony, fun giveaways and prizes, and delicious food from local vendors. Photographers will also be taking photos at the finish line and throughout the post-race celebration, so participants and attendees will have the chance to have a memento from the event. All race participants will also receive a free race t-shirt.
Proceeds from the event benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Participants can also choose to fundraise during their race training to raise extra funds during the event. There is also a “Phantom Runner” participation ticket, where guests who can’t attend the event can still receive a race t-shirt and show their support. The Phantom Runner tickets are $25. In addition, VIP Runner tickets are being sold for $50. The VIP Runners will further their support for Children’s with the extra donation, and they will receive extra race benefits including: a pre and post-race VIP area, post-race brunch, private restrooms, and access to a VIP parking area.
