Midsummer Music and Food Festival 2013The Red Stripe Midsummer Music and Food Festival is on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, 2013.  The festival takes place at Candler Park in Atlanta.  The hours on Friday are from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Saturday’s hours are from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm.

The Midsummer Music Festival is two days filled with food, music, art, a 5k race, and a cornhole tournament.  On Friday evening, there will be a “Food Truck Happy Hour” along with the artists market and live music.  Several bands will be performing throughout the evening, including Coy Bowles of Zac Brown Band.

On Saturday morning there will be a 5k race at 9:00 am.  The course will take runners and walkers on a route through the Candler Park neighborhood, and it finishes at the park just in time for the start of the festival.  Participants ages 21 and up will receive a free Red Stripe beer after they complete the race.  Registration before June 7 is $25 and price goes up to $30 afterwards.  Awards will be given for 1st place finishers in various age categories and all athletes will get a commemorative t-shirt for participating.

The festival begins at noon on Saturday and kicks off with a fun cornhole tournament from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.  The popular bean bag toss game will be set up in a tournament style with 2 players per team.  Guests of all ages can play, and participants ages 21 and up will get a free beer with registration.  Registration is $35 per team, and participants must register in advance no later than June 13.

The artist’s market and live music will also be going on all day.  Fun and unique items will be sold by local and regional artists and craftsmen.  Several bands will be performaing including: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Soul Rebels, The Whiskey Gentry, Connor Christian & Southern Gothic, Webster, Stokeswood, and more!  There will also be delicious food served by over 25 of Atlanta’s most popular food trucks.

The festival is free and open to the public, and approximately 10,000 visitors are expected to attend this years event.
