Run with the Dogs – Frostbite 5k

The Frostbite 5k – Run with the Dogs is on Saturday, January 12, 2013.  The race takes place near the Decatur High School located at 310 North McDonough Street in Decatur.  The race begins at 9:00 am.

The Frostbite 5k run and walk is open to runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels.  Many students, parents, alumni, friends, and neighbors of Decatur High School, Renfroe Middle School, and Glennwood Academy participate in the event each year.  There is also a special group where participants are invited to run or walk with their dogs.

The race will begin and end in front of the gym at Decatur High School on McDonough Street, and the course will wind it’s way through the streets of Decatur.  Registration is now open online, and participants can also register on race day beginning at 8:00 am.  Pre-registration, by January 5, 2013, is $25 per person, and late or race-day registration is $30.  There is also a discount for City of Decatur students and teachers.

The race will begin promptly at 9:00 am, and water will be provided at several stations throughout the course.  Race participants who register in advance will also get a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt.  Awards will be given for various age groups, and overall 1st place male and female runners.  Each dog that participates will also get a special treat.

Parking is available in the Decatur High School upper parking lot off of Howard Ave.  All proceeds from the event go towards the Decatur Bulldog Boosters Club to help fund sports programs at Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School.
