Back by popular demand, the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade invites you to “take it to the river!”
Saturday | June 10th, 2017
Parade Steps Off at 9:00 p.m.
With colorful lanterns lighting the way, the parade begins at Steel Canyon Golf Club and courses through Morgan Falls Overlook Park. The illuminated parade is a creative community collaboration, and your participation is what makes it magical!
People of all ages and backgrounds will join together with hand-crafted paper lanterns adorned with decorations, lights, and their own personal flare. Whether you are a participant or spectator, it is a night to remember!
Chantelle Rytter, creator of the very successful Beltline, Grant Park and Decatur Lantern Parades, will produce the unique and colorful event. Join Chantelle as she reveals two new swan lanterns known as Lilly and Billy for this year’s parade. Lilly and Bill will be accompanied by Alice (the 25-foot albino alligator lantern from last year’s parade), Big Mama Sandy (the turtle), and Jeremiah (the bullfrog), accompanied by his lilies. The lanterns will glide though the Chattahoochee River as parade guests enjoy light displays, performances, and more!
Bring a lantern of your own, or join one of Chantelle’s workshops which include all the materials, instructions, and tools for your own creation! All lanterns are lit with battery-operated LED’s (no live flames permitted). The lanterns will be carried on sticks, not released.
