Have you ever wondered what’s going to happen to the abandoned Target building at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Sandy Springs Circle in Sandy Springs? The City of Sandy Springs purchased the building in 2008. Rumor has it that it would be home to the city’s government offices. Although those plans have not been acted upon, the city does have an idea for the parking lot…a community farmers’ market.
In late January, Mayor Eva Galambos encouraged progress on a proposal to make an open air farmer’s market in the parking lot of the old Target site. “We all have a vision of downtown that serves as a community gathering place,” Councilman Chip Collins from District 3 said. “The demand is there.” Plans would allow for vegetables, fruits, flowers and crafts to be sold on Saturday mornings from March to December.
