The 45th Annual Writers’ Festival returns to Atlanta on Thursday, April 7th and Friday, April 8th. This year’s festival takes place at Agnes Scott in Decatur, and attendance is free!
The two-day Writers’ Festival builds on a long tradition of inviting distinguished writers to campus to read their works, teach, and talk with students. Featuring a writing contest for colleges and universities in both poetry and fiction has been the centerpiece for the beloved event with readings and workshops to round out the program.
While the festival maintains these founding traditions, it has continued to grow throughout the years! Creative nonfiction and dramatic writing have been added to the writing contest, an alumna writer is now showcased almost every year, and one of the visiting writers gives a one-credit workshop for ASC student writers.
The Writers’ Festival has brought great writers to the college to inspire and challenge its students and audiences. With receptions and book signings to follow, the 2016 Lineup of Public Events includes:
- Q & A with Richard Blanco, Dani Shapiro, and Charleen McClure ’10
