Hoos in the Forest features the whimsical art of Salley McInerney who has created 20 “creatures” from naturally-found materials. Guests will discover these creations on display throughout Dunwoody Park’s meadow and trails, and even have the opportunity to vote on their favorite Creature! One lucky voter will win a FREE two-year membership to the Nature Center.

Opening Reception kicks off the event at 10:00 a.m. followed by an afternoon of exciting events! Lunch and beverages for the reception will be provided by Village Burger.
  • 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Creature Crawl: Tour of the sculptures
  • 10:00 a.m. | Artist Salley McInerney will speak and lead the first tour
  • 11:00 a.m. | Docent Led Tour
  • 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Free Poetry from Free Poems ATL
  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Open Art Studio Workshop with Salley McInerney *
  • 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Hourly Docent Led Tour

* The Open Art Studio Workshops are limited to 20 stations (each station accommodates one family). 10 stations will create their own small “creature,” and another 10 stations will create a “creature cabin” to take home. The FREE Workshop is facilitated by Salley McInerney, and preregistration is required.
