Be part of America’s largest celebration of national heritage! It’s about making great connections, exploring amazing places, discovering open spaces, enjoying affordable vacations, and enhancing America’s best idea—the national parks! It’s all happening in your national parks.

Fee-free days make national parks accessible to more people. What better way to commemorate the coming season than to get outdoors?

The fee waiver includes: entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. All other fees are not included unless stated otherwise.

2024 Free Entrance Dates

  • January 15th: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • April 20th: First day of National Park Week
  • June 19th: Juneteenth National Independence Day
  • August 4th: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
  • September 28th: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11th: Veterans Day

Throughout the week, many parks will also host Every Kid in a Park events, which encourage fourth grade students to visit national parks and other public lands by offering a free annual pass. Active duty military and citizens with a permanent disability can also get free passes.

Annual Passes

The annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass allows unlimited entrance to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks that normally charge an entrance fee. There are also free or discounted passes available for senior citizens, current members of the military, families of fourth-grade students, and disabled citizens.
