Gear up with a flashlight and your sense of adventure! While the Dunwoody Nature Center normally closes at sundown, visitors will have the chance this Fall to connect with nature through Free Friday Night Hikes.
2017 Hike Dates
September 22nd | 8:00 p.m.
October 6th & 20th | 7:30 p.m.
Families will gather to enjoy a free nocturnal experience with nature that is fun and safe for all ages! Before and after the hikes, hikers will join at the meadow and warm up with cocoa, stargazing, and a cozy campfire.
The family-oriented hikes will leisurely follow trails around the wetlands and forests of Dunwoody Park as hikers are armed with flashlights under the light of the stars. Against the serene backdrop of the flowing Wild Cat Creek, Nature Center educators will guide groups as they listen for the sounds of owls, bats, and other nocturnal creatures.
Hikers are encouraged to stick around afterwards to take a peek into the Milky Way through the center’s telescope and warm up by the old fireplace, a remnant of the original homestead on the property.
The evening is free for the entire family. Please note that strollers are not recommended along the mulched trails.
