The 6th annual Morningside Mile Race and Block Party returns on Sunday, April 17th from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m.
The Race kicks off at Noon in Virginia-Highland (corner of Lanier Boulevard & Virginia Avenue) and ends in Morningside at Doc Chey’s (1424 N. Highland Ave).
Following the race, celebrate at the neighborhood Block Party until 2:00 p.m. at Morningside Village (1424 N. Highland Ave)!
Atlanta’s only 1-mile competitive Race includes cash prizes, great swag, and a fun-filled party! Runners of all levels from competitive runners to moms with jog strollers & kids are welcome. Registration is available until April 14th at $25 per participant. Don’t forget to show your race number at the block party to get a free SweetWater beer at Doc Chey’s, OR a free cookie at Alon’s! Cash prizes and other goodies will be given out to runners across various finishing categories.
Following the Race, the Neighborhood Block Party will offer live music, tons of food, and fun for all ages! In addition to providing food for the event, Doc Chey’s will feature its annual noodle-eating contest at 1:30 p.m. with the chance to win up to $100 in gift cards. Meet your neighborhood fire-fighters and vendors who will host a variety of festivities throughout the afternoon!
Proceeds from the Race and Block Party benefit the restoration of the Historic Virginia Highland Fire Station 19, Atlanta’s oldest continuously operating station. Located in the heart of the historic Virginia Highland neighborhood, the station has been a neighborhood landmark for more than 90 years.
