Touring North America for the first time in over twenty years, Yayoi Kusama presents her iconic Infinity Mirrors exhibit at the High Museum of Art!
November 18th, 2018 – February 17th, 2019
The show is known as Kusama’s most comprehensive work, showcasing six decades of the artist’s creative output and development of the expansive kaleidoscopic environments. Six rooms will be presented alongside sculptures, paintings, works on paper, film excerpts, archival ephemera, and additional large-scale installations spanning from the 1950s through present day. A number of Kusama’s new works will also be on view.
Regarded as one of the twentieth century’s most influential artists, Yayoi Kusama remains active in her Tokyo studio at 89 years old. She continues to expand on her earlier works, developing mirrored installations into immersive environments.
“One day, after gazing at a pattern of red flowers on the tablecloth, I looked up to see that the ceiling, the windows, and the columns seemed to be plastered with the same red floral pattern. I saw the entire room, my entire body, and the entire universe covered with red flowers, and in that instant my soul was obliterated and I was restored, returned to infinity, to eternal time and absolute space.”
