Holiday Tree Lighting Returns to Atlanta History Center for 2024!
Atlanta History Center is kicking off the holiday season with the returns of an annual tradition at the Holiday Tree Lighting! With fun for all ages, both children and adults are invited to ring in the holiday season as the new 50-foot Christmas tree lights the way for a festive evening ahead.

The festive evening will be filled with music, children’s activities, roaming pictures with the Santa and the Pink Pigs, and more fun throughout the Museum! A cash bar will be available, and hot cocoa and Chickfila will be available for sale. Following the tree lighting, Santa will take pictures with the public in front of the Locomotive.
New for 2024: A children’s train ride and a magical snowfall!

Members Lounge
Grand Overlook Ballroom | 6:30 p.m.
Members have first access for professional photos with Santa, cookie decorating, treats, live musical performances, credit card bar, Chick-fil-A, coffee & hot chocolate for purchase. Members also have access to all activities outside in the Entrance Gardens including a magical snowfall, children’s ride-on train, a photo opportunity in a holiday igloo, and more!
General Admission Activities
Museum Atrium and Entrance Gardens | 6:30 p.m.
Members and not-yet members can enjoy seeing the holiday lights, a magical snowfall, and a special photo in a holiday Igloo in the Entrance Gardens. Children can enjoy the ride-on train in front of the museum. Inside the museum, Atrium Chick-fil-A will be available for purchase with a credit card bar.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Veterans Park | 7:30 p.m
Special holiday musical performances, an appearance from Santa, and the moment we all are waiting for – the lighting of Atlanta History Center’s 50 ft. holiday tree!
Photos with Santa and More! |
Museum | 8:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
