Including an elevator and stairs with bike runnels, the new access point for the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail is projected for completion in April. Construction on the project is being completed by New City Development, connecting the Eastside Trail to Historic Fourth Ward Park as part of the 22-mile loop.
Back in November 2020, glass was installed around the elevator shaft alongside the erection of two bridge structures. Formerly the Gateway Trail, the U-shaped path entwined landscaped grasses and trees to connect the trail to the park. Throughout the construction, all area business have remained open, and the health of the surrounding oak trees have been preserved through nutrient injections.
