Summertime is nearing, and it’s time to celebrate with the annual Virginia Highland Summerfest! The beloved family festival extends through the Virginia Highlands, filling every foot with something to see.

Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Summerfest is located on scenic and historic Virginia Avenue between North Highland Avenue and Park Drive. The 5K race begins at the eastern end of the festival just one block east of the intersection of Virginia and North Highland.
Celebrating 34 years of art food, and fun, Summerfest is a feast for the senses!
The juried Artists Market features over 250 artists from across the Southeast who have joined to together to showcase unique folk and fine art. Specialized works will be available for purchase across a variety of art mediums, including: Painting, Photography, Clay, Metal, Stone, Wood, Jewelry, Glass, Textiles, and Mixed Media.
5K ROAD RACE
Saturday | 8:00 a.m.
The perfect way to kick off Summerfest! Winding through the scenic streets of the Virginia Highlands, this year’s race will feature electronic chip timing and is now an official qualifying race for the Peachtree Road Race.
Saturday | 9:15 a.m.
Children under 7 are also invited to join the racing fun as they run, walk, crawl, and trot their way to the finish line at the Tot Trot! Following the 5K Road Race, the Tot Trot which will be held on the lawn of the eastern section of John Howell Park. Every child will receive a blue ribbon and t-shirt for participating.
Saturday & Sunday | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The kid-friendly fun continues after the race with the festival’s 2017 Kidsfest. Children are invited to participate in unique games, crafts and activities for children of all ages!
FOOD & LIBATIONS
Local food vendors will be providing a large assortment of food throughout the festival, and authorized vendors will have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Cool off with a mixed cocktail, beer, or soft drink as you make your way through the events of the festival!
Over on the lawn of John Howell Park, the Music Stage will feature a variety of renowned local musicians along with nationally acclaimed singer-songwriters. The fun will continue until 10:45 p.m. at the Acoustic Stage where the Street Party will be hosted Friday and Saturday evening.
